Eating In and Out Burger in a Convertible

Burgers in a convertible-02

In and Out Burger-03

Yesterday I tried In and Out Burger for the first time.  Have you ever been?  It’s an old fashioned fast food burger joint located throughout the SouthWest & California.  I hadn’t tried it before because I had no idea that they had a vegetarian option.  In and Out Burger has a large secret menu.

In and Out Burger-01

The vegetarian burger is pretty funny.  It’s all the fixings of the cheese burger but with two slices of cheese and no beef patty.  It comes with a tangy sauce that adds much needed flavor and moisture.  The best part was that it was only $2.05!

Burgers in a convertible-03

They give you a box to eat out so my husband and I decided to eat it on our way home.

When I got home I checked on my painted eggshell planters.  The seeds have sprouted!

Just for fun, here’s a photo of my cat, Tiggy.

Painted Eggshell Planters

Painted Egg Planters-03

This a great spring project!  You can decorate the eggs for Easter, and once your plants grow big enough to transplant, simply place the eggshell and plant in the ground!  I planted Zinnias in my eggs, but you can plant whatever you want.  Follow the instructions on the back of your seed package for sowing information.

Materials:

White eggs
Paper towel
Watercolor paint
Paintbrush
Water container
Nail, screw, corkscrew, or ice pick
Seeds
Soil

Painted Egg Planters-05

Rinse and dry eggs as you use them.  Continue this until you’ve eaten the entire carton.

Painted Eggshell Paint-05

Set up your workspace by getting your paints ready and setting out plenty of paper towel.  Also get a container for water.

Painted Eggshell Paint-03

Painting eggs with watercolor is super easy!  Simply paint and let dry.  Add more water for thinner colors and less for thicker look.

Painted Egg Planters-04

Paint your eggs a variety of colors.

Painted Eggshell Paint-01

After the paint is completely dry, use something sharp to poke a drainage hole in the bottom of the shell.

Painted Eggshell Paint-02

The shell is surprisingly strong.  I used a screw to make my holes and none of the egg cracked.

Painted Egg Planters-01

Make holes in all of the eggs and put them back in the egg carton.

Painted Egg Planters-02

Add soil and seeds to eggshells following the instructions on the seed package.

Painted Eggshell Paint-04

Moisten water.

Painted Egg Planters-06

Find a place in your house with the right amount of sunlight for your plants.  I put my eggs on the windowsill in the sunniest spot in my house.

5 Minute Glitter Eggs

Glitter Eggs-01

Glitter makes everything better! This craft is super quick because it uses spray adhesive.  Spray adhesive is super sticky and glitter adheres to it instantly.  If you get glue on your fingers, wash it off easily with body oil.

Materials:

Eggs, any type
Spray adhesive
Newspaper or junk mail
Glitter

Glitter Eggs-02

You can use any kind of egg for this project: foam, wooden, paper mache, plastic, or even real eggs.

Glitter Egg-05

Place your egg on newspaper or junk mail.  I also recommend using a piece of cardboard to protect your walls.

Glitter Egg-04

Spray a thick layer of spray adhesive all over the egg.

Glitter Egg-02

Place egg on a fresh sheet of paper and shake glitter over it.

Glitter Egg-03

Continue to sprinkle glitter over the egg until there’s a thick layer. Tip the leftover glitter back into its container.

Glitter Egg-01

Continue with the rest of your eggs in a variety of glitter colors.
